The Iliad Of Homer (early 1900s)
Student Edition probably printed in the early 1900’s in Boston.
Everyone needs a good classic copy of one of mankind's oldest lasting works of fiction. Now, we don't have to admit that we would never read this if it hadn't been assigned in school. But you will feel prestigious and educated with this book on your shelf. I know I do. This copy doesn't contain a printed date, but was likely printed in early 1900 if not in the previous decade. It's a "Student's Edition", which means this copy was likely part of someone's education, and now it can be part of yours. This stories origins date back hundreds of years before "Jesus Times". Though the story was of Greek Origins, most of the copies we find of this poem date to the times when Jesus walked the earth. Now picture this, you could be reading a story that Jesus also could have read growing up. Maybe Jesus wouldn't have bothered with these stories, but Paul the apostle definitely read this story growing up. And much like the rest of Paul's writings, this book too could sit on your shelf neglected and untouched. That was a subtle jab to encourage you to read your bible. Also read this book. It's an adventure that has been retold throughout the human experience and a model for storytelling that has never gotten old.
